The Volcano by Ov3RMinD The Volcano by Ov3RMinD
Finally I found the time to make something new. It really was a pleasure to work on this one. Some parts turned out even better than I had planned originally. Something I tried to achieve is that there clearly is a huge distance between the planets and the nebula. I don't know if this setup is actually realistic at all. I think at that distance not very much of the nebula's light would actually reach those two planets but anyways. At least it looks cool.
I hope you like it as much as I do.

Comments are very welcome - as always.

- ~mr-texture
I used two of his textures for the surface of the left planet.
- and to the person who made the texture I used for the right planet. I don't remember where I took it from. If someone recognizes it - which I doubt - PLEASE tell me.

Did you fully paint everything (except the textures for the planets of course)? Because the nebula looks absolutely amazing and superrealistic, so did you paint the nebula as well or is that a real picture that you just photoshopped in?

The nebula is entirely painted. I did use custom brushes that I made myself but I did not use any existing pictures for it.

I use mainly custom brushes for the nebula shapes. Mostly on layers with linear dodge mode or with linear dodge brush settings to get a "glowing" effect.

I'm not an expert on space or neblua art, but I can tell you worked very hard on this picture. It is amazing. It's like I can actually see it through a window. How do you do these kind of art? Because your art can be great inspiration for those who wanted do Sci-fiction and because God knows I can't. :)

Not you best planet work, but the nebula is, as usual, masterfully done. Did you intend for it to be reminiscent of fractal-based nebulae? Either way, very impressive. I also notice a couple of layer edges around the large star immediately above the larger planet, just pointing it out so you can clean it up ;)
Any chance your next will be sooner than this was in comparison to the one that preceded it?

What the hell... how could that happen... *fixing*. Thanks for pointing that out.
And no, I absolutely don't like fractal-based nebulae. They look too artificial for my liking.

I really hope I can do more stuff in the near future but I wouldn't count on that. I have a lot of half-done pirctures on my hdd and they all want to be finished. :/

Yeah, I don't love the fractal nebulae, but some of those plumes you have in there are very reminiscent of them. I also hear about never having any time. I've been meaning to do a nebula for a while but even my last attempt ended up not really being a nebula at all, and now I have no time again... Sigh...

Looks really nice, the shading on the planets is a bit poor, I think a better sense of depth would have been acheived if the shadows were darker and a bit bluer, but the nebula looks fantatsic! :D
